PostCellar documentation
Install the beta (before the Chrome Web Store listing)
- Download postcellar-extension.zip and unzip it.
- Open
chrome://extensionsand switch on Developer mode (top right). - Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder.
- Pin PostCellar from the puzzle-piece menu.
Archive X bookmarks and Reddit saves
- Open
x.com/i/bookmarksor your Reddit profile → Saved. - Scroll down. A small PostCellar box in the bottom-right corner counts archived posts. Use Pause to stop.
- Scroll slowly near the end so every post loads. Already-archived posts are skipped automatically.
Save anything else
- Whole page: click the toolbar icon → Save this page, or press Alt+Shift+S.
- A post in a feed (X, LinkedIn, Reddit): right-click the post's timestamp or link → Save link to PostCellar. PostCellar stores the text of that post, not the whole feed.
- A highlight: select text → right-click → Save highlight to PostCellar.
Search and organize
Open the library (toolbar icon → Open library). Search matches words in titles, page text, highlights, notes and tags. Every word you type must appear. Filter by site, tag or unread.
Import
Library → Import JSON / CSV. JSON files from a PostCellar backup and CSV files with url, title, tags, time_added columns are supported. Imports never overwrite existing items.
Back up your data — important
PostCellar keeps everything only in this browser profile. Uninstalling the extension or clearing site data deletes your library. Use Export JSON (backup) regularly; it is free on every plan. PostCellar reminds you every 30 days once you have 20+ items.
Limits in this beta
- No sync between computers or phones (export/import instead).
- Very large libraries (10,000+ items) take a few seconds to open.
- X and Reddit change their page layouts from time to time; capture may need an update when they do.
- Reddit capture has been tested on sample pages only so far.
